a little bit of 'tation goes a long way.

Aside from creating art and handmade items, I have a passion for presentation. Simply stated, I have a thing for "making things look pretty." I've always been teased growing up for my pickyness and slight OCD tendencies when it came to projects, layouts, and anything involving design... it only makes sense that I've now incorporated this into my Etsy shop.

I guess it's starting to pay off.
Or, at least, I like to think it is.

I just spent the last hour or so altering and modifying my blog layout. OK, that's an understatement. It was more like a couple hours (including a break to eat some dinner) spent altering the colors, the fonts, the banner, the profile, the title formats, the shop button, the archive display... oh, I could go on.

To be honest, I've been making a lot of empty promises here lately. Promising posts full of photos from my holiday bazaar, and promising to myself to post about all the things I want to share with all of you. But I haven't. But a lot like cleaning out a dirty workspace, I've cleaned up my blog... and not only am I excited by its new look, but I'm excited to start blogging again and getting back to work.

But on the topic of presentation (and in relevance to fellow Etsians), "presentation" starts off with your shop appearance (banner, avatar, the way you title your product) and boils down to the way you package your items, how you present yourself at shows, and even how you present yourself off Etsy.

This creates familiarity to your customers and really draws cohesiveness between everything and anything that represents you and your business...

With the blog as one more thing checked off my list, I'd like to think that I'm getting there...

So, how important is presentation to you and your business?

Steppie

Um yours looks really nice! LOL.

To me, I'd like to be there someday. But in some ways, like in many areas of my life, I'm just groping around in the dark. But actively trying to not be that way.
