i mentioned in an earlier post about my re-branding;
and while that obviously applied to my etsy shop + blog,
it also applied to my booth display at shows.

it debuted at last saturday's handmade brigade,
and i think mister (huge) panda face felt right at home!

recap: handmade brigade!

Last Saturday I took part in Tall Mouse's Handmade Brigade that took place in Cerritos, CA. A fun show with free refreshments, free popcorn (yay!), and even a live DJ playing hip hop throughout the day. Definitely a way to set the tone and keep it lively!

It was a smaller show so I had a tough challenge: fit all my stuff on a 6' table! After getting used to my outdoor set up in Silverlake, it was definitely a battle to figure out how to showcase all my work without everything overflowing the small space I had, but I think I managed!

Squeeeeeeeze! Doesn't look too bad for such a small space, huh?

Without a canopy or coat stand to hang my tote bags, I bought some wooden pegs (meant to be nailed onto a wall), painted them, added a bit 'o gloss, and set them at the edge of my table to display my totes!

There was also a bit of adjusting around my table to make sure my original artwork got showcased as best as possible...

Ghettogloss: Silverlake -- Part Dos!

My second time at Ghettogloss's Silverlake Art Craft & Vintage Show!

This time was even better than the last! The vendors were even more talented and the atmosphere even more exciting! I met some really awesome people... other vendors, aspiring artists, and even a gracious woman who was interested in selling my items in her eco store! And to top it off? It had to be my most successful craft show yet! Here's to hoping it only goes up!

This was also the first time I decided to add an additional table to my booth set-up. I believe it helped for me... definitely gave that "boutique shop" feel I was going for, and people seemed to enjoy looking at all the artwork displayed on the table!

Looks like babies are poppin' out of bellies everywhere, because I was lucky enough to sell a lot of my original artwork to adorable couples looking to decorate their baby nurseries! What an honor that was! I can't wait to see photos!

You can find me at the Ghettogloss/Silverlake show again on the two weekends before Christmas! Yes, you heard me! On Saturday AND Sunday! So, if you're not quite done with your Christmas shopping, want to find unique presents, or just want to browse & maybe window shop for yourself... I highly recommend for you to come out!

And for all your fellow Etsians around the area, it's completely worthwhile to come out as well. Ghettogloss will be making this flea market a permanent thing starting mid-January. So, maybe I'll see some of you there as well! Even on last Sunday, Etsy was totally representing out there in Silverlake! Lots of vendors from Etsy along with a lot of Etsians looking to purchase and stroll around the flea market. It was a treat to meet all of them. :)

Good times, good people, and good shopping.

Now, back to preparing for my appearance at the Handmade Brigade tomorrow... wish me luck!

handmade brigade: this saturday!

I am so excited to be apart of the second Handmade Brigade held by the Tall Mouse Arts & Crafts Store! I will be joining around 20-something other vendors at the back the store selling my artwork and handmade goods! And did, I mention the vendors are absolutely talented and amazing? I'm sure I'll be doing a bit of shopping myself!

Get ready to give “crafty” a whole new meaning. The HANDMADE BRIGADE is coming to town… again! Definitely NOT your average craft show experience, the family owned and operated independent craft store, Tall Mouse Arts and Crafts, will be hosting their second Indie craft fair. The event will be held at the Tall Mouse in Cerritos on Saturday December 6, 2008 from 10AM-4PM (13233 E. South St. Cerritos, Ca 90703).

This is the second indie craft show put on by the Tall Mouse Arts and Crafts store. The first was a summer show in July of 2008. The show proved itself to be a success with over 20 vendors and generating a crowd of over 500 people!

Tall Mouse would like to continue to offer their support to the movement as well as their fellow independent partners-in-craft by hosting another event to showcase the best indie talent out there. Shoppers can expect to find plenty of quality handmade goods at this fair. The previous HandMade Brigade featured items such as painted vintage handbags, urban photography, screen prints, dolls, jewelry and so many more interesting handmade items! The fair will showcase 20 independent designers, crafters and artists alike.

Just finished making a batch of Designs by Steppie promos to send off to the Handmade Brigade so they can be included in the goodie bags that will be given out the day of the show!



I have a couple left over so have been playing with the idea of giving them out as freebies when people make purchases at my show coming up this Sunday at the Ghettogloss Silverlake Art & Vintage show!

I've also got fabulous ideas from fellow Etsy chatters to provide a batch for the Little Black Box. I've been wanting to be apart of the Little Black Box for a while now, and this might be the best solution to give people an idea of what I do, something they can use, and a way to reach me and my shop.

I've even toyed with the idea of selling them - but don't know how well they would sell or how much people would be willing to pay for them...
